Crystal Starr in 1/6 Scale

A mock up of a Crystal Starr action figure I'm customizing. The head is an imperfect resin casting that I tested painting techiniques on. The clothes are hand sewn by me, I'm still working on a jacket. The foot prosthetics are Paperclay and Milliput and the tail is vinal fabric over wire. The gun is a resin casting, see the Fey Armory on my business page for more details.

I'm finally making some real progress on modifying the basic figure. I've disassembled it for painting and to attach the tail. All the pieces have been primed and are ready for painting. Note the hole in the small of the back where the tail will be attached.

I had considered using doll hair because the length of the sculpted hair would interfere with articulation and the weight could be too much for the figure to support (the head is heavy enough as it is). Once I figured out how to articulate sculpted hair, with hinges made for R/C air plain flaps, I decided that sculpting would work. Paperclay is light enough that weight shouldn't be too much of a problem. The hair was sculpted in place and removed for finishing The small hair piece to the left of the head goes over the ear and had to be cut off so that the main hairpiece could be removed.

The tail passes through a hole at the base of the back. The wire armature of the tail ends in a loop that goes over one of the body pegs.

The assembled figure. A couple of the joints, the right knee and the neck, are loose, and the weight of the head causes a bit of a problem, but overall it's not too bad.
